I'm a Designer, graphic and web. Here I muse about things that inspire me, frustrate me, teach me and are of me... related to design.

My Workspace

I was inspired by this website called Workspaces (workspaces.tumblr.com). It made me think that it would neat to post my workspace at home. Both my husband and I are creative and we created a room where we can both surround ourselves with things that inspire us.

We call it the "Blue Room" because we painted it a deep blue. We read somewhere that blue inspires creativity, so hopefully it's working. haha.

My desk

I am in love with fairies. My favourite are the hard core fairies, like the kinds in myths and legends who steal babies and seduce you into the forest. I surround myself with them. That's a fairy calendar behind me. My desktop image is usually some kind of organic, fantasy compilation.

That empty space to the left of my desk lamp is going to be the new home of Alphonse Mucha's "Dance". It's waiting for a frame at the moment. Art Nouveau is my absolute favourite art movement and I would love to fill the Blue Room full of Mucha prints. However, I do have to share.

My husband's desk
My husband loves his video games and he surrounds himself with the aspects of those video games that inspire him - mainly the art behind it all. Above him on the wall is his shelf of World of War Craft characters. His desktop image consists of a rotating set of artwork from Guild Wars II.

We have one more workspace in our Blue Room that we share: our drafting table. Both of us agree that when we see that white table all cleared it gives us the urge to break out some drawing materials and create something. Above the table is our mishmash shelf of figures we love: fairies and Transformers. I'll have you know, Rian is not the only one who loves Transformers. ;) Here a close up of our mishmash shelf... I know. I favoured the fairies. Tee hee.
